Galentine’s Day: Good Energy, Good Company

I hosted a small Galentine’s night last month. It was simple, relaxed, and honestly, it was exactly what I needed.

The girlfriends who came are wonderful. We are not the same, and that is what makes the group special. We learn from each other, and we respect and accept our differences. And even with all those differences, we still have a lot in common, including one important thing: we love to have fun.

Here are four things I took from the night.

  1. Sometimes it feels better to give
It is always nice to receive, and I also noticed how satisfying it was to host. To share my space, make things comfortable, and create something easy for other people to enjoy. It did not need to be fancy to feel good.
  2. People’s energy is not a small thing
How you feel around people matters. The right company can make you feel more like yourself, and the wrong company can make everything feel heavy.
  3. Respect makes differences easier
We all have different personalities, different perspectives, and different ways of communicating. What made the night work was simple respect. No competition, no weirdness, and no pressure to agree on everything! Our goal was to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate sisterhood.
  4. The best gatherings have shared leadership
At different moments, different people led. Someone suggested a game, someone helped clean up, someone kept the conversation going. It felt balanced. Nobody was “in charge.” It reminded me that things run better when people contribute in their own way, and everyone feels like an equal.

That is my Galentine’s recap. A simple reminder that connection can be easy, and that giving can feel really good, too.

If you have been needing a reset, consider this your sign to plan something small with people who feel safe and easy to be around.
