𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏 𝟏 – 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐕𝐀𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐧𝐞.
𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 – Follow VA groups on Facebook or LinkedIn. Follow your favorite VAs on Instagram. Read their content, see if you connect with them.
𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬- Reach out to other business owners, business coaches, friends, and solo-professionals that have had an experience with a VA or are currently working with one. Referrals are an excellent way to find the people you can trust.
𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬 & 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 – There are many VAs that are speakers. You can also find VAs at networking events. These are two great places where you can meet your potential VA in-person.
𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏 𝟐 – 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – Do you resonate with the messages that your potential VA is sharing on social media, website, or newsletters? If the answer is yes, you have a candidate.
𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐭 – Decide what kind of skillsets you would like your VA to have. Make your choices based on that list.
𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – If you have a quick question, such as: “Do you provide X service?” or “Are you still accepting new clients?” reach out to your potential VA before a consultation.
𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣 𝟯 – 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Once you narrowed down your choices, set up a meeting with your potential VA.
Come to the meeting prepared with specific tasks that you would like to delegate to that person. Find out if they have the experience and knowledge to handle them.
Also, use the opportunity to get to know them as a person. What are their values, mindset, communication style? After all, you will be working closely with your VA and you want to make sure you can work well together.
𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏 𝟒 – 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
Now that you have done your research, have asked the right questions, and have gained clarity on what a VA can do for your business, it’s time to make a decision.
Take your time but don’t overthink it. One of the advantages of working with a VA is that there is no long-term contract or employment obligation that would keep you working with someone that is not a good fit for you. Give your new VA a try and start making things happen. You won’t know until you try.
𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏 𝟓 – 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬!
You are finally here! You picked your VA and are ready to start working together.
This is a big step and the beginning of a new relationship. A good VA will make sure that everything is clear and outlined: business hours, communication tools, payment methods, etc.
If there is something else you need clarification on, this is the perfect moment to discuss.
And you are all set. Now you are ready to start doing what you love to do every day, make your business grow, and pass on the rest!
